Grants available for K-12 students or Higher Education opportunities.
The Ted DeLaney Youth Opportunity Grants are named in honor of the late Dr. Theodore DeLaney, Professor Emeritus of History at Washington and Lee University and a Rockbridge NAACP Freedom Fund honoree.
These programs seek to promote racial equality and equal educational opportunities for our community members in need. Thanks to generous donations from local institutional and individual donors, it offers stipends to cover costs of education-related initiatives, projects, or instruction.
There are two types of grants available:
Ted DeLaney K-12 Youth Opportunity Grant (for children and teens in or between grades K-12 – please apply by May 31st of each year.)
Ted Delaney Higher Education Opportunity Grant (primarily for young people seeking higher education following high school—including college, job training program costs, or professional trade school)
For more specific information on each grant program and application instructions see links above.
Note: these grant programs are open to residents of Rockbridge County, Lexington, and Buena Vista. Grants are offered based on individual applications and a determination of need.
Girls, women, and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
