On Friday October 19, 2018 at the Natural Bridge Hotel over 200 guests– a sold out crowd– came out to honor Washington & Lee history professor (and hometown legend) Theodore C. Delaney Jr., be inspired by Virginia State Senator Jennifer McClellan, and enjoy the singing and dancing talents of local youth.
The Rockbridge NAACP would like to thank everyone who made the evening such a rousing success – and in particular our platinum sponsor Washington & Lee University, whose generous financial contribution made the evening possible. Also much thanks to our bronze sponsor, The Red Hen restaurant, , the many local businesses, chrurches and political candidates who were represented in the Banquet Brochure, and of course, all of members of Rockbridge NAACP’s Freedom Fund Committee who worked so hard to put together this smashing inaugural event for our newly formed chapter.
The Freedom Fund banquet was a memorable event on so many levels. The keynote speaker’s powerful speech, the young people entertaining, the recognition of Ted Delaney for his significant contributions to the Lexington/Rockbridge community and the maxed out number of guests attending. Kudos to the Freedom Fund Committee for a job well done. Also, a great big “thank you” to the Lexington/Rockbridge community for your overwhelming support.

Awesome event!
This event was just what we needed with all of the division in our Nation. People of all ethnicities and backgrounds coming together for a common cause. I am so proud to be a member of this organization.
